The Lamingo Monkeys defeated the Chinatrust Brothers 11-0 in the decisive Game 7 of the Chinese Professional Baseball League championship, and a former Giants left-handed pitcher was front and center.
Pat Misch was a walk away from a perfect game, throwing the first no-hitter in Taiwan Series history to seal the title.
“My catcher called a good game, I just pitched to where he wanted the ball," Misch told the Taipei Times. "Then I got the batters down in order, inning by inning, and our defense was outstanding tonight.”
Misch struck out seven and allowed just a fifth-inning walk to first baseman Peng Cheng-min.
The 34-year old journeyman was originally selected by the Giants in the seventh round of the 2003 draft and pitched went 0-7 with a 5.20 ERA over his first four MLB season with San Francisco.
Misch last appeared in the majors with the Mets in 2011. After a few seasons in the minors, he was released from the Marlins before given an opportunity in Taiwan.
