Buster Posey seems to be constantly cool, calm, and collected, showing minimal body language on the field for the Giants. But the three-time World Series champion showed a different side in a recent BodyArmor commercial.
The sports drink, which describes its product as a "SuperDrink" starts out their newest ad with former Stanford and current Colts star Andrew Luck in vintage football gear with a leather helmet. Around the 24 second mark, Posey makes his cameo.
Giving his best impression of Major League star character Pedro Cerrano, Posey goes full voodoo on his bat with a necklace on that most likely has Sabre-Toothed Tiger teeth coming off of it.
Clearly Posey's not-so-secret-anymore voodoo rituals have been working as he hit .323/.398/.521 with five home runs and 17 RBI in May compared to .263/.333/.388 with three home runs and 10 RBI in April.
The commercial, which looks to highlight athletes' lifestyles of old compared to today, also features Luck rocking a Joe Namath-style fur coat with a handle-bar mustache, along with WNBA star Skylar Diggins, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, and Houston Rockets guard James Harden all sporting vintage gear for their respective sports. Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout also has a blonde mullet as a star tennis player while Gronk is now dominating in the Hot Dog Eating Contest and Harden pays homage to Run-DMC.
Perhaps Posey's off-field personality being highlighted on the big stage will further give him a lead over Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina in voting to be the starting catcher for the National League All-Star team.
