Game 8 of the World Series also went to Madison Bumgarner. Kinda.
Bumgarner faced two Royals while pitching the fourth inning of the All-Star Game -- which was won 6-3 by the American League -- and while the inning wasn't a clean one, he got out of it unscathed.
The left-hander, one of four Giants in the All-Star Game, followed Zack Greinke and Gerrit Cole on the mound and got Nelson Cruz to fly out to right on his first pitch. Lorenzo Cain, who saw way too much of Bumgarner in the World Series, followed with a bouncer into center field. After getting Adam Jones to fly out, Bumgarner was once again matched up with Salvador Perez, who popped up a high fastball from Bumgarner for the final out of Game 7 last October.

Bumgarner struck out Perez on a slider in the dirt, but it skipped away from catcher Buster Posey and Perez reached first. Cain went all the way to third, but Bumgarner finished his first career All-Star Game inning without giving up a run.
"It was a little strange having him face Perez there," Posey said. "The first pitch was to a similar spot to the one Perez popped up."
It was mostly a quiet night for the Giants. Posey was 0-for-2 while starting the game for a second time in the last four seasons. He caught the Dodgers' aces, Greinke and Clayton Kershaw, during his five innings.
