The Raiders' focus on defense remained so Wednesday as the team announced the re-signing of cornerback Joselio Hanson, who had been on the market as an unrestricted free agent since the league year began on March 12.

Hanson, 31 and a veteran of eight NFL seasons, joined the Raiders as a free agent on Sept. 3 of last year and appeared in all 16 games, starting five. At 5-foot-9, 175 pounds, he is primarily a slot corner in nickel packages though he was on the field for 552 defensive plays, tying for the team lead with two interceptions. He also had 68 tackles, six passes defensed, one forced fumble and recovered a fumble for the sixth consecutive season.

According to Stats Inc., Hanson had a burn rate of 75 percent, giving up 39 completions on 52 targets for 500 yards and two touchdowns. And per Pro Football Focus, Hanson was second-to-last in the NFL in coverage snaps/reception, allowing 49 catches in 60 attempts for 557 yards and a passer rating of 108.1.

Of the 19 players the Raiders have signed, re-signed, acquired or restructured thus far this offseason, 15 are on defense.
