Craig Dahl is the latest free agent safety to attract the attention of the 49ers.
The 49ers are scheduled to visit with Dahl, who played the past four seasons with the St. Louis Rams, reports St. Louis-based sportscaster and writer Howard Balzer.
Dahl started all 16 games for the Rams last season. He recorded 78 tackles and had one interception. In his first three seasons with the Rams, he started 24 of the 45 games in which he appeared. Dahl played seven games with the New York Giants in 2007. He did not play in 2008.
The 49ers are in the market for a veteran safety after Dashon Goldson signed a five-year, $41.25 million contract this week with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On Wednesday, the 49ers visited with Charles Woodson, who was released by the Green Bay Packers in February. The 49ers also visited with Louis Delmas on Thursday. Delmas re-signed with the Detroit Lions on Friday.
The 49ers are expected to sign a veteran free agent and also draft a safety. The draft is expected to be deep in talent at the safety position.
