Safety Michael Thomas, who spent his entire rookie season with the 49ers on the practice squad, signed a reserve/future contract with the club on Monday.

Thomas originally signed with the 49ers in May as an undrafted free agent from Stanford. He was among the team's final cuts of training camp, but was never activated. He played defensive back and wide receiver on the scout teams throughout the season to help the 49ers' first-team offense and defense prepare for the upcoming opponent.

Last week, the 49ers signed six players to reserve/future contracts: defensive tackle Lamar Divens, wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, guards Al Netter and Wayne Tribue, linebacker Nate Stupar and tackle Kenny Wiggins.
