Defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey is scheduled to travel Tuesday and will spend Wednesday visiting with 49ers officials, a league source told CSNBayArea.com.

Dorsey, a five-year veteran, was the No. 5 overall selection of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008.

Dorsey (6-foot-1, 297 pounds) played played just four games for the Chiefs in 2012 before sustaining a season-ending calf injury. He played in 62 games and recorded four sacks in his first four seasons.

The 49ers need depth on the defensive line with Ricky Jean Francois en route to visit with the Eagles and Isaac Sopoago reportedly agreeing to terms with Philadelphia. On Monday, the 49ers signed seldom-used third-string nose tackle Ian Williams to a two-year, $3.2 million extension, through 2015, with a $1 million signing bonus.

The 49ers want to gain more depth on the defensive line to incorporate more of a rotation to gives breaks to interior defensive linemen Justin Smith and Ray McDonald.
