The Jacksonvile Jaguars, as many expected, hired a coordinator from an NFC West team as head coach.
No, not that coordinator. And, no, not that NFC West team.
New general manager David Caldwell did not wait for his college teammate and roommate Greg Roman to become available. On Thursday, the Jaguars hired Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley as head coach.
Of the eight teams that fired their head coaches, the Arizona Cardinals are the only club that has yet to fill their vacancy. The Cardinals have already interviewed five candidates who remain available.
Also, it appears as if 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble will remain with the club. He was considered a strong general manager candidate when the regular season ended.
National reports had him tabbed for the New York Jets. Gamble interviewed with the Jets, but the Jets have continued to interview candidates for the position. Gamble has returned to work with the 49ers for the past two weeks to get ready for free agency. The Jets and Cleveland Browns are the only teams that have yet to fill their GM positions.
