Keep an eye on…
Sharks: Tim Kennedy. The recently recalled forward was arguably San Jose’s most effective offensive player in the loss to Nashville on Tuesday. He’ll be given every opportunity to keep his spot on the roster while playing on a line with Logan Couture and Ryane Clowe on the second line.

Blackhawks: Patrick Kane. The Blackhawks’ winger scored the game-winning goal against San Jose on Feb. 5, and is currently riding a seven-game point streak (7g, 4a). He’s tied for second in the league in scoring with 20 points.

Last game
Sharks: The Sharks were shut out for the second time in three games, losing in overtime in Nashville on Tuesday, 1-0. The Sharks were 0-for-6 on the power play in what was their sixth straight loss (0-3-3). Antti Niemi made 24 saves for the hard luck defeat.

Blackhawks: Chicago lost in a shootout to Anaheim on Tuesday at the United Center, 3-2. Nick Leddy and Brandon Saad scored for the Blackhawks, who played in just their third home game. The Blackhawks extended their point streat to start the season to 13 games, which is just three shy of the NHL record.

Sharks: Andrew Desjardins is on injured reserve (flu). James Sheppard is out with an undisclosed injury.

Blackhawks: Out for Chicago are Daniel Carcillo (lower body) and Steve Montador (concussion).

Season series
The Blackhawks beat the Sharks at HP Pavilion on Feb. 5, 5-3. The Sharks play again in Chicago in exactly one week, on Feb. 22.

“I don’t think there should be a lot of panic in this room, because this is an elite club. We’re a top end team in here, and we have to find a way to maybe get a lucky goal. Maybe get a goal to bounce off of somebody’s butt and into the net.” – Adam Burish
