At least one facet of forward Frazer McLaren’s game looks ready for the big show.
The 6-5, 230-pound winger, who has 39 games of NHL experience over three seasons but has never been able to secure a full-time roster spot, could be one of a few Worcester Sharks that are brought in for a closer look during San Jose’s abbreviated training camp. If the Sharks are looking to carry some extra beef on their roster, it will likely come down to McLaren or 6-4, 235-pound Brandon Mashinter.
Those familiar with McLaren’s game know that he’s not afraid to drop the gloves when necessary, and in Worcester’s game on Tuesday, he engaged in a thrilling bout with fellow tough guy Joel Rechlicz of the Portland Pirates. In 25 games with Worcester, McLaren has one assist and 87 penalty minutes.
Worcester play-by-play man Eric Lindquist has the call.
Anyone else ready for the NHL season?
