EL SEGUNDO – Sharks center Scott Gomez could return to the lineup against Los Angeles on Saturday, after skating with the team on Friday afternoon at the Kings’ practice facility in Southern California.
Gomez missed San Jose’s 2-1 loss in Phoenix on Thursday, suffering from what he called “soreness” due to a big hit in the neutral zone by Dallas’ Erik Cole on Wednesday. Lately, he been centering the fourth line and skating on the second power play unit.
Marty Havlat did not skate, but should be fine to play in the season finale against the Kings.
“We gave [Havlat] a day of maintenance. A couple days off won’t hurt him. He’ll be ready to go,” Todd McLellan said. “Gomer had a couple days and skated today, and from what I could tell out there, he looked good and started to feel better. Very good chance he’ll play tomorrow.”
Defenseman Jason Demers remains out. He was not wearing the walking boot he was seen in earlier this week, but is still walking with a pronounced limp due to a sprained left ankle.
