Multiple teams have been in trade talks with the Athletics about Ben Zobrist and the Mets are the latest to join the list.
The utility player could provide some needed offensive punch to the slumping Mets, who have lost six in a row.
Zobrist is batting .250 with 5 HR and 26 RBI in 41 games this season for the A's, and sources on both sides say the teams have discussed Zobrist, according to the New York Daily News.
Wilmer Flores, who mans shortstop for the Mets currently, has committed 10 errors this season in comparison to Zobrist, who hasn't made one yet.
Zobrist missed time earlier in the season with a knee injury, but has hit .256 with 4 HR and 18 RBI in 27 games since being activated from the DL.
He is set to be a free agent at the end of the year and has drawn interest from the Nationals and Cubs as well.
