OAKLAND – The Oakland A’s recalled outfielder Craig Gentry and infielder Max Muncy from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced Tuesday.
Gentry joins the A’s for third time this year and is batting .079 in 17 games with Oakland. He was on the A’s Opening Day roster and hit .086 in 16 games before he was optioned to Nashville May 6. Gentry returned May 17 and appeared in one game before he was sent back to Nashville May 25. He hit .256 with five home runs, 25 RBI and 25 stolen bases in 101 games overall with the Sounds. Gentry hit safely in 16 of his final 17 Triple-A games and batted .371 over that stretch.
Muncy returns to Oakland for his fourth stint and is batting .217 with two home runs and six RBI in 36 games with the A’s. He made his Major League debut during his first stint from April 25 to June 29, batting .203 in 34 games. Muncy appeared in just one game in each of his next two stints, including a 1-for-1 performance on Aug. 28 during his most recent stay from Aug. 24-28.
He batted .274 in 60 games with Nashville and finished the Triple-A portion of his campaign with an 11-game hitting streak, during which he batted .325.
