A’s left-hander Drew Pomeranz left Monday’s start in the fifth inning with tightness in his throwing shoulder.
Pomeranz had issued two straight walks when he was visited by manager Bob Melvin and assistant trainer Walt Horn and was removed from the game. The lefty walked five overall and hit a batter in 4 1/3 innings. He gave up one run and two hits with two strikeouts.
