The Oakland A’s won’t be bernie-leaning to the 33-1 odds, given to them by Las Vegas betting site Bovada, to win the 2013 World Series. The A's odds to win the AL pennant are 16-1.
An improbable run to the 2012 AL West title and a comeback victory in game four of the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers didn’t stop odds-makers from giving 14 teams better odds of winning this year’s fall classic. Of that group, six didn’t make the postseason and three – the Reds, Nationals and Rangers - were eliminated in the divisional series or Wild Card round.
The Toronto Blue Jays are the favorites at 7-1, and the defending AL champion Detroit Tigers follow at 8-1. Here’s how the A’s and the rest of the AL stack up:
- Toronto Blue Jays - 7/1
- Detroit Tigers - 8/1
- Los Angeles Dodgers - 17/2
- Washington Nationals - 17/2
- Los Angeles Angels - 9/1
- Atlanta Braves - 14/1
- Cincinnati Reds - 14/1
- New York Yankees - 14/1
- San Francisco Giants - 14/1
- Texas Rangers - 14/1
- Philadelphia Phillies - 18/1
- St. Louis Cardinals - 20/1
- Tampa Bay Rays - 25/1
- Boston Red Sox - 30/1
- Oakland Athletics - 33/1
