OAKLAND – It pays to show some loyalty to your next door neighbor.

A’s manager Bob Melvin created some buzz Monday night when he wore a gold Warriors T-shirt underneath his game jersey. The Palo Alto native takes a big rooting interest in all the Bay Area teams, so he’s enjoying this playoff push by the Warriors as much as anybody.

The A’s beat Texas 5-1 on Monday night, and Melvin -- a very superstitious sort -- said he planned to wear the Warriors shirt under his jersey again Tuesday night. Asked if he planned to attend Thursday’s Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals between the Warriors and Spurs – being played next door to the Coliseum at Oracle Arena – Melvin said he didn’t have any tickets.

Shortly after, Warriors radio play-by-play man Tim Roye tweeted that the team was holding two tickets to Thursday’s game for Melvin if he wanted them.
