ANAHEIM – Scott Kazmir is expected to make his next scheduled start for the Oakland A’s despite some triceps tightness that cut short his start Sunday.
Manager Bob Melvin said before Monday’s series opener against the Angels that he won’t make any adjustments to his starting rotation due to Thursday’s day off. That means Kazmir will throw his between-start bullpen session Wednesday and then take the ball Saturday afternoon against the Houston Astros at the Coliseum.
The news comes as no surprise given that Kazmir classified the triceps injury as “very, very minor” after Sunday’s game at Seattle, where he was pulled after six innings as a precaution. Kazmir had the same tightness in spring training that necessitated him missing a start, which is why the A’s proceeded cautiously with him.
The lefty is 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA in three starts so far in his first season with the A’s.
