The A’s and second baseman Eric Sogard agreed to a one-year contract Friday to avoid arbitration.
The deal is worth $1.075 million, according to a CBSSports.com report. That leaves three unsigned arbitration-eligible players left for Oakland -- pitchers Fernando Abad, Tyler Clippard and Jarrod Parker.
Sogard, 28, hit .223 with one home run and 22 RBI last season. He’s spent parts of five seasons in the majors, but this winter was his first time eligible for arbitration. With the A’s adding middle infielders Marcus Semien and Ben Zobrist, Sogard figures to enter spring training in a battle to win a roster spot as a utility infielder.
