A’s left fielder Coco Crisp left Tuesday’s game against Houston with tightness in his neck.
That raises concerns, obviously, given that Crisp’s 2014 season was affected severely by a neck strain that originated from him slamming into the outfield wall. The 35-year-old veteran was replaced in the field by Sam Fuld in the bottom of the fourth, as Fuld shifted from center to left and Billy Burns entered at center to replace Crisp in the leadoff spot.
Crisp missed eight games in late July last season because of the neck strain, but he played through discomfort most of the season and hit .246 with nine homers and 47 RBI in 126 games.
He missed the first 28 games this season after having arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow and has struggled mightily at the plate, going 2-for-45 in 13 games without an RBI.
