It seems Billy Butler is already getting settled with the A’s. He’ll arrive at spring training already possessing one of the game’s best nicknames -- “Country Breakfast.” It stems from a fan who volunteered it in a contest; Butler said his longtime unofficial nickname was “Big Country” but he needed something that was uniquely his.
He’s also already brokered a deal with Josh Reddick to take over uniform No. 16.
Butler appreciated Reddick’s number swap.
“I’ll find out what he’s into and get him a nice little gift,” he said.
Reddick quickly tweeted an image of his new No. 22 jersey Wednesday, saying it's "a number I've worn before and became fond of. It's also my high school coaches number and he and I are close to this day."
