OAKLAND – The Oakland A’s added a pair of players following their selection of A.J. Puk with the No. 6 pick during Day 1 of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft.
Right-handed pitcher Daulton Jefferies, from the University of California, was the A’s second pick -- taken 37th overall in the Lottery Round A. The Athletics then selected right-handed pitcher Logan Shore with the 47th overall pick. Puk and Shore pitch together at the University of Florida.

Jefferies went 7-0 with a 1.08 ERA and a .185 opponents batting average in eight starts for Cal in 2016. He struck out 53 and walked just eight in 50.0 innings. The right-handed junior missed two months of the season with calf and shoulder injuries but returned to make two starts at the end of May.
Jefferies was an All-Pac-12 first team selection as a sophomore in 2015. He compiled a 13-13 record and a 2.86 ERA in 34 games, including 33 starts, in three seasons with the Bears.
Shore was a Baseball America First Team All-America selection and Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Year this year. He is currently 11-0 with a 2.44 ERA and a .223 opponents batting average in 16 starts with Florida.
The right-handed junior has 80 strikeouts and just 15 walks in 92.1 innings. Shore looks to extend a school record 16-game winning streak in the NCAA Super Regionals against Florida State this weekend.
