Anderson struggles in surprise rehab start

Brett Anderson lasted into the third inning of his unexpected rehab start at triple-A Sacramento Saturday night.

The left-hander, who was initially supposed to throw two innings of relief, gave up two first-inning runs against Tucson and finished with a line of 2 1/3 innings, three hits, two runs, three walks and two strikeouts. He threw 49 pitches, 27 strikes.

"Results aside, it was awesome to get back on the mound in a game," Anderson Tweeted. "One step closer to being back where I want to be."
