Yunel Escobar's Oakland tenure lasted all of four days.
The A's traded the infielder, who was acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, to the Washington Nationals Wednesday afternoon in exchange for relief pitcher Tyler Clippard, the team announced.
The deal is reportedly done and pending physicals, though neither team has confirmed the transaction.
Clippard, 29, notched his second career All-Star season last year, compiling a 7-4 record and 2.18 ERA over 75 appearances.
Escobar, 32, hit .258 with a .324 on-base percentage, seven home runs and 39 RBI in 137 games with the Rays last season.
