Left-hander Fernando Abad, who was non-tendered by the A’s last month, has agreed to a minor-league contract with the Twins.
Darren Wolfson of KSTP-TV in Minnesota reports that the deal would pay $1.25 million if he makes the Opening Day roster out of spring training.
Minnesota figures to continue pursuing lefty bullpen options, but in the meantime Abad is a potentially useful middle reliever with a good changeup and relatively even platoon splits throughout his career.
