Former 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis is remaining a former 49ers linebacker, after all.
Willis responded Thursday morning to a report from Jason Cole of Bleacher Report, saying he has never reconsidered the decision he made to retire from professional football.
Cole reported that a source told him Willis is considering a comeback.
On a post on social media, Willis left no room for interpretation.
“I MADE MY DECISION BACK IN APRIL. AND I HAVEN'T THOUGHT TWICE ABOUT . . . PLAYING ANOTHER DOWN IN THE NFL...PERIOD‼‼‼
“SO QUIT TRYING TO BRING LIFE; on a CHAPTER that I have already CLOSED IN MY HEART and MIND.”
Willis was chosen to the Pro Bowl seven times in his eight-year NFL career. He was a five-time first-team All-Pro selection. He underwent season-ending toe surgery last year and determined he could not continue to play at a high level due to his physical condition.
