The 49ers appear to be one of seven teams interested in former Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis.
A Twitter account alleging to be Laurinaitis’ dad, Joe, better known as professional Hall of Fame wrestler “Road Warrior Animal,” suggested that his son has visits with the 49ers, Atlanta, New Orleans, Chicago, Washington, New England and the New York Giants.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch's NFL Writer Jim Thomas is reporting that the Twitter account does not belong to Joe Laurinaitis.
Laurinaitis has yet to visit the 49ers, sources told CSNBayArea.com, and at this time it is unclear if he will meet with 49ers officials.
The Rams released Laurinaitis, along with defensive end Chris Long and tight end Jared Cook in a salary-cap purge on Feb. 19. Laurinaitis, 29, has never missed a start in his seven-year NFL career while recording more than 100 tackles in each season. His career-lows of 109 tackles were recorded the past two seasons.
