UPDATE (1:09 pm PDT on Saturday): The 49ers announced that tackle Anthony Davis has been reinstated by the NFL from the Reserved/Retired List.
To make room on the roster, nose tackle Ian Williams was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list.
Anthony Davis is set to rejoin his former team.
The offensive tackle will report to 49ers training camp in Santa Clara, a source confirmed to CSNBayArea.com on Saturday.
Davis, who sat out the entire 2015 season, submitted paperwork on Monday for reinstatement off the league’s reserve/retired list.
On Tuesday, Davis' agent Drew Rosenhaus spoke about the 26-year-old's return.
“I’m confident that Anthony is ready to go to work with the 49ers and resume his career with them,” agent Drew Rosenhaus said on Pro Football Talk on NBC Sports Radio. “And I believe the 49ers will welcome him back. It’s hard for me to speak for them, but the impression I have is that from all my discussions with them, they’d be excited to get Anthony back. And Anthony would be happy to work with them again.”
