SANTA CLARA -- The Seattle Seahawks signed former 49ers fullback/defensive lineman Will Tukuafu, the club announced on Wednesday.
The Seahawks moved backup running back Robert Turbin to fullback two weeks ago when Derrick Coleman sustained a fractured foot during warmups before the Oct. 19 game against the St. Louis Rams.
Tukuafu (6 foot 4, 293 pounds) spent parts of the past four seasons with the 49ers. He appeared in a career-high 14 games in 2012. The 49ers re-signed him late last season after Bruce Miller sustained a broken shoulder blade.
Tukuafu was trimmed from the 49ers’ roster on Aug. 30 at the team’s initial cut to 53 players this season.
He was placed on injured reserve after sustaining a concussion in an exhibition game Aug. 24 against the San Diego Chargers. He was released after being cleared to return to action.
Tukuafu and wide receiver Ricardo Lockette are ex-49ers who are currently on the Seahawks’ roster.
