GLENDALE, Ariz. – The 49ers enter their matchup with Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers after allowing 755 yards passing in the final two games of the regular season.
And the status of starting cornerback Carlos Rogers is not known after he removed himself in the fourth quarter with a hamstring strain.
“Something was bothering him physically,” 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said.
Said Rogers, “It’s not hurting me. We’ll see. Hopefully, it’s not that bad.”
Rogers is expected to undergo an MRI examination on Monday.
If Rogers is unable to play in the 49ers’ first-round playoff game against the Packers, Tarell Brown would likely join Tramaine Brock in the starting lineup. Rogers is also responsible for the slot receiver. Veteran Eric Wright would play that spot.
The 49ers had difficulty containing the Arizona Cardinals’ passing attack on Sunday in their 23-20 victory on Sunday. Quarterback Carson Palmer completed 28 of 49 passes for 407 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
On Monday, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan completed 37 of 48 pass attempts for 348 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in the 49ers’ 34-24 victory.
