More than a month after the 49ers waived quarterback Dylan Thompson, he is reportedly getting a chance with another NFC West team.
Thompson, 24, will sign a contract with the Los Angeles Rams, the NFL Network reported on Monday.
The quarterback originally signed with the 49ers last year as an undrafted rookie from South Carolina. He earned a spot on the 49ers’ practice squad to open the season, then was promoted to the active roster when Colin Kaepernick was placed on injured reserve.
In his rookie year, Thompson did not appear in a game while suiting up for seven games. The 49ers waived Thompson on April 30 after the club drafted quarterback Jeff Driskel of Louisiana Tech in the sixth round to join Kapernick, Blaine Gabbert and Thad Lewis on the 90-man roster.
The Rams invested the No. 1 overall pick in quarterback Jared Goff of Cal. The other quarterbacks on the team’s roster are Nick Foles, Case Keenum and Sean Mannion.
