Fresh off a Super Bowl appearance, the Panthers are aiming to be better than they were last year in hopes of capturing the Lombardi Trophy in 2016.
As the season nears, one player Carolina is reportedly considering adding to its already well-stocked roster is former Pro Bowl safety Donte Whitner.
Whitner, a free agent, is flying to Carolina on Friday for a workout with the Panthers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The 31-year-old hard-hitting defensive back spent the past two seasons with the Browns where he made 186 total tackles. He was released by the team on April 2, 2016.
Before that, Whitner had a career resurgence with the 49ers, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl nods and reaching his first ever Super Bowl.
Over two seasons in San Francisco he forced five fumbles, equaling his seven combined years of production with Cleveland and Buffalo. He also made five interceptions, matching his total with the Bills.
Whitner in February reportedly visited the division rival Los Angeles Rams.
