Tom Gamble, the former 49ers director of player personnel, reportedly had a “long talk” with 49ers general manager Trent Baalke on Tuesday morning at the Senior Bowl.
Gamble and Baalke were spotted together in a coffee shop in Mobile, Alabama, reports Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com. Gamble is considered an option to return to the 49ers’ personnel department.
Joel Patton, who replaced Gamble in May 2013, left the organization before last year’s draft in a move the 49ers never publicly acknowledged.
Gamble left the 49ers in February 2013 to join the Philadelphia Eagles as vice president of player personnel. On Dec. 31, the Eagles announced the team and Gamble “agreed to part ways.”
Gamble spent his final two seasons with the 49ers working closely with Baalke as the team’s director of player personnel. From 2005 to February 2011, he was the director of pro personnel.
Prior to his arrival with the 49ers, Gamble served as a college scout for the Indianapolis Colts from 1998 through the 2005 draft, under veteran NFL executive Bill Polian.
