Colin Kaepernick's salary is relatively low as a starting NFL quarterback, but he opened a new avenue of cash flow Friday by signing a multi-year endorsement deal with MusclePharm. The nutritional supplement company's mission statement is to "develop and bring to market the most scientifically advanced, safest nutritional and sports supplementation products possible."

"I added MusclePharm supplements to my routine at the beginning of my rookie season in the NFL," Kaepernick said in the company's press release. "MP covers all my needs when it comes to energy, recovery and increased productivity both on and off the field. I am honored to become part of the MusclePharm team and look forward to representing their highly regarded brand."

"Kaepernick's reputation as a workout fanatic coupled with his amazing physique makes him an ideal fit with the MusclePharm brand," said founder and CEO Brad Pyatt. "He is both an articulate and charismatic young man with a work ethic and competitive drive that complement his dynamic athleticism. We are thrilled to have him represent MusclePharm."

The 25-year old's alignment with an athletic training company comes just days after 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh expressed his fear at the NFL owners meetings that Kaepernick could get too chiseled.
