Kaepernick signs endorsement deal with Jaguar

NFL safeties can attest to Colin Kaepernick's quickness on the football field, but the 49ers quarterback will experience a whole new level of speed thanks to the multinational British car manufacturer, Jaguar.

Kaepernick, whose endorsement deal with Jaguar was made public Wednesday, tweeted a picture of himself "Kaepernicking" in front of his brand new maroon convertible that boasts a $92,000 pricetag, 495 horsepower and top speed of 186 mph.

When Kaepernick took over for Alex Smith as the 49ers starting quarterback, there was speculation that he was a less-than-ideal candidate for endorsements because of his highly visible tattoos, but Kaepernick is proving naysayers wrong.

Just over a week ago it was announced that Kaepernick would represent MoGo Sport, a company that specializes in flavored mouth guards. Among the available flavors -- lemon, fruit punch, mint, orange, bubble gum and blue raspberry -- Kaepernick opts for fruit punch, which mingled with the sweet taste of victory after he and his flavored mouthguard led the 49ers to a 32-7 Monday Night Football win in his first career NFL start.

Jaguar and MoGo Sport aren't the only companies hitching trailers to Kaepernick following the Super Bowl season; MusclePharm announced its multi-year deal with the 49ers quarterback in late March.

The timing of his allegiance with MusclePharm was interesting, as it came days after head coach Jim Harbaugh expressed at the NFL owners meetings that he was concerned about Kaepernick becoming "too big, too strong."

In 16 total games last year including playoffs, Kaepernick threw for 2,612 yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions, and rushed for 679 yards and eight scores. The Turlock native, who is spending his offseason training in Atlanta, is preparing for his third NFL season and first as the 49ers starting quarterback.
