The 49ers are doing their due diligence on first-round prospects, attending college pro days and inviting players to Santa Clara for visits.
The team was at the Florida Pro Day on March 22, where players such as Jonathan Bullard, Keanu Neal, and perhaps most intriguing of all, potential top 10 pick Vernon Hargreaves, worked out.
And even though all 32 NFL teams were represented at the pro day, Hargreaves named two teams with the most interest: the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers, he told the Tampa Bay Times.
And the Gators defensive back was satisfied with his showing for those teams.
"It was smooth," Hargreaves said. "It was good. It was fun to be back out there with the boys."
Hargreaves, who checked in at 5-foot-11, 204 pounds at the NFL Combine, was an All-American and All-SEC cornerback for Florida.
In three seasons with the Gators, he racked up 121 career tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 10 interceptions, 27 batted balls, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
Hargreaves also showed his versatility by returning kicks, averaging 20.5 yards per return last year on four attempts. He did, however, allow 16.5 yards per completion this past season, according to NFL.com.
The 2016 NFL Draft is April 28-30. The 49ers hold the No. 7 overall pick.
