Defensive end Ray McDonald is not expected to be out of action an extended period of time after the 49ers received the results on his MRI examination.
“We dodged a bullet there,” 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said Tuesday morning on his KNBR radio show. “It looks like Ray might have walked one off."
McDonald sustained a right biceps strain Sunday night in the third quarter against the Houston Texans. After being examined by team physicians, McDonald was immediately ruled out for the remainder of the game.

He showed up at the 49ers’ practice facility on Monday without any wrap or brace on his right arm. He showed no signs of an injury as he used his right arm to talk on the phone and open a door. McDonald said he did not believe the injury was serious, but did not know the results of the MRI.
McDonald’s status for the 49ers’ game Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals at Candlestick Park remains in question. But, at least, the 49ers know McDonald will not be out for a significant period of time.
