SANTA CLARA – The 49ers have no chance of making the playoffs for the first time under coach Jim Harbaugh.
But Harbaugh said Monday the fact that the team will not play in January this season will not change his approach when the 49ers wrap up the season with home games against the San Diego Chargers and Arizona Cardinals.
“We have a lot to play for,” Harbaugh said. “We’re going to play these next two games like our lives depend on it.

“(We’re) playing for a winning season and playing for each other, playing for the team, playing for the honor of the game.”
The 49ers fell to 7-7 with the first three-game losing streak under Harbaugh. He said the 49ers do not plan to change anything, such as giving more playing time to some of the younger players in the final games.
