SANTA CLARA – While 49ers CEO Jed York made it clear he wishes to speak with his coach about a contract extension after the season, Jim Harbaugh expressed his desired result.
Does Harbaugh want to remain with the 49ers for a lot of years to come?
“Uh, absolutely,” Harbaugh said Thursday. “Absolutely.”
Harbaugh, who is in the third year of a five-year, $25 million contract, was also asked about his rapport with general manager Trent Baalke. And Harbaugh stated everybody with the 49ers is pulling in the same direction.

“It’s the 49er way. It’s the team, the team, the team,” Harbaugh said. “Everybody does a little and it adds up to be a lot. Nobody above the team. Nobody more important. Nobody less important. Hundreds of people in this organization, and we all have a role and we all contribute to the best of our ability. And that’s the team, the team, the team. We win as a team. That’s how we do it.”
Harbaugh’s name surfaced last week in reports that he would be among the coaches that the University of Texas would target to replace Mack Brown. Sources told CSNBayArea.com that Harbaugh has no desire to return to the college ranks.
But Harbaugh was apparently talking about the reports that he is on Texas’ list when he called it “hearsay.”

“In Judge Judy’s court, hearsay is not admissible evidence,” Harbaugh said. “I think we can all agree that an unnamed source is hearsay.
“I see unnamed sources related to many of these topics. And it’s my point that an unnamed source is hearsay. And in the court of public opinion, why would you give any of that credibility?
Added Harbaugh: “Beware of unnamed sources. They speak with forked tongue.”
