INDIANAPOLIS -– Five former Cal football players are on a full list of invitees to the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine presented by Under Armour released Thursday by the NFL. The former Cal players selected to participate in the event that takes place February 23-29 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis include tight end Stephen Anderson, wide receiver Trevor Davis, quarterback Jared Goff, running back Daniel Lasco and wide receiver Kenny Lawler. The five former Cal players equal the most combine invites since five Golden Bears were also selected in 2013.
The annual NFL Scouting Combine showcases over 300 of the top college football players with top executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and medical staffs from all 32 NFL teams on hand to evaluate the professional football prospects.
Players begin arriving at the combine February 23 staggered by position groups beginning with running backs, offensive linemen and specialists. Second day arrivals include quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends. Defensive linemen and linebackers check in on the third day followed by defensive backs on the fourth day.

On-field workouts begin February 26 for running backs, offensive linemen and specialists. Quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends will work out on the field February 27 followed by defensive linemen and linebackers on February 28, and defensive backs on February 29. Each player goes through on-field position work and a series of measurable drills including the 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, 3 cone drill and shuttle run.
In addition to the measurable skills testing and on-field position work, other activities for each player at the combine include registration, orientation, hospital pre-exam and X-rays, measurements, medical examinations, media interviews, team interviews, an NFL Players Association meeting and psychological testing.

Anderson finished his Cal career with 101 receptions for 1,260 yards receiving and seven touchdown grabs over 37 games and 25 starts during the last four seasons after redshirting as a true freshman in 2011.
Davis had 2,300 all-purpose yards over 23 games (100.0 ypg) and 11 starts during his two campaigns of action at Cal after redshirting in 2013 following his transfer from Hawai’i to Cal, registering 1,071 yards receiving and seven touchdown catches on 64 receptions.

Goff set 26 school records during his three seasons in which he started all 37 games possible at quarterback with his career marks including passing yards (12,220), touchdown passes (96), total offense (12,086) and completions (977), while he was second on the school’s all-time list for passing efficiency (143.95) behind only Aaron Rodgers and a two-time team captain in his final two campaigns. Goff broke a pair of Pac-12 single-season records in his final campaign as a 2015 junior when he passed for 4,719 yards and 43 touchdowns to lead an 8-5 Cal team to a winning record and bowl game for the first time since 2011, while he was also the first Cal quarterback to earn first-team All-Pac-12 honors since Rodgers in 2004.
Lasco was also a two-time team captain who finished his career with 2,395 career all-purpose yards over 41 games and 15 starts including 1,872 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground to rank 10th on Cal’s all-time list.
Lawler finished his collegiate career tied for second on Cal’s all-time list for touchdown receptions and tied for 12th in the Pac-12 with 27 scoring grabs among 143 catches for 1,706 yards receiving over 35 games and 19 starts. He led Cal in both touchdown receptions and overall catches in both his sophomore and junior seasons in 2014 and 2015, capping his collegiate career as a junior with a first-team All-Pac-12 selection when he recorded a career-high 13 touchdown catches to lead the team while ranking second in the Pac-12 and tied for eighth nationally.
The 2016 NFL Draft will be held April 28-30 at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. Cal has had 26 first-round picks and 226 selections overall since the draft began in 1936, as well as 53 selections overall and 10 first-round picks in the last 16 drafts that have taken place since 2000.
