SANTA CLARA -- Outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks did not practice Tuesday, as he was seen with a trainer while his teammates were on the field during stretching and warmup drills.
Brooks was on a stationary bike in the 49ers’ weight room as practice began.
The specific condition that Brooks prevented him from practicing is not known. But 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said earlier in the day that Brooks is heavier than the team would like.
“He’s gotten a few extra pounds on him now that I think is holding him back,” Fangio said. “We’ve been trying hard to get that off of him and hopefully he’ll be back to the guy that we saw, really that we’ve seen for three years.”
Safety Antoine Bethea was not wearing the no-contact blue jersey at practice, an indication that he has received medical clearance from the concussion he sustained Aug. 17 against the Denver Broncos.
Safety Bubba Ventrone remains out of action with a hamstring strain.
