After visiting the 49ers on Tuesday, it’s nearing decision time for free-agent defensive lineman Darnell Dockett.
Dockett is expected to choose Wednesday between the 49ers and returning to the Arizona Cardinals, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Agent Drew Rosenhaus represents Dockett. The Seattle Seahawks and St. Louis Rams are also interested, according to the report.
The Cardinals released Dockett on Friday to avoid paying his $6.55 million salary for 2015. The club offered him a one-year contract worth $2.5 million with incentives that could add another $1.5 million, according to the Arizona Republic.
Dockett, who turns 34 in May, missed just two games in his first 10 NFL seasons with the Cardinals before missing all of last season with a torn ACL he sustained in training camp.
Dockett is a three-time Pro Bowl selection. He has 40.5 career sacks, including a career-high nine in 2007.
