CLEVELAND –- Kicker Phil Dawson might have been the only member of the 49ers who will want to remember this day.
Dawson, 40, who spent his first 14 NFL seasons with the Cleveland Browns, was honored with a tribute on the team's message board early in the game.
Dawson was greeted with a standing ovation.
“I patted my heart,” Dawson said. “All week, the lead-up has been tremendous. The love and support from those in the stadium today was very nice to experience, and it’ll be something that I’ll always remember.

“When I’m an old man and my memory’s starting to fade, I just hope the good Lord allows me to always hold onto this one because this is one of those rare ones.”
Dawson had little impact on the 49ers' 24-10 loss to the Browns on Sunday.
Dawson, however, did connect on a 44-yard field goal in the second quarter. Dawson now owns the two longest streaks of made field goals in 49ers history. In 2013, he set the franchsie record with 27 in a row. Dawson’s current streak stands at 19. His first field-goal attempt of the season was blocked, and he has not missed a field-goal attempt since.
