Tight end Vernon Davis, who forfeited $200,000 with his failure to take part in the 49ers’ offseason program, apparently is not going to lose another $70,000.
Speaking with Comcast SportsNet Bay Area’s Henry Wofford on 95.7 The Game on Thursday, Davis said he intends to take part in the 49ers’ mandatory minicamp next week in Santa Clara.
“You know what? I plan on being there,” Davis said. “I plan on being there.”

CSNBayArea.com has reported that Davis has been absent from the “voluntary” workout program due to his dissatisfaction with his contract. Davis seemingly confirmed that stance in other interviews within the past week.
He was a bit more vague when asked about his mindset on Thursday.
“Everything is all cool between me and the Niners,” Davis said. “You know what? It’s not really about my contract. In life, you have to make business decisions, right? The 49ers are always making business decisions, and I’m a business man and I’m an entrepreneur.
“So the thing I want to do is get other guys to start making business decisions. When it comes to yourself, you’re your own entity. So why not take charge and do that?”
