UPDATE (2:15 p.m.) -- Crabtree jogged back to the 49ers' sideline after being examined in the 49ers locker room. He was back on the field for the 49ers' first play of the second quarter.
SANTA CLARA -- Wide receiver Michael Crabtree left the game in the first quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles with a foot injury. The 49ers announced his return was questionable.
Crabtree caught a 2-yard pass in the first quarter from Colin Kaepernick and went to the bench, where the team's medical staff examined him.
He took off his left shoe, and was seen rolling a yellow softball under his arch.
He walked to the locker room under his own power for further observation.
Crabtree missed the entire 2011 exhibition season due to a left foot fracture in the offseason that required surgery.
