The Arizona Cardinals released longtime defensive tackle Darnell Dockett, the team announced on Friday.
Dockett was entering the final year of a four-year, $35.3 million contract, and his future with the team was very much in question.
Dockett, 33, missed the majority of the 2014 season with a torn ACL.
He is a three-time Pro Bowler, but has not been named as such since 2010.
Dockett was scheduled to earn $6.55 million in base salary in 2015, and had a cap hit of $9.8 million, which was the fourth-highest on the team, according to OverTheCap.
He has started 156 of 158 career games played, recording 40.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles and four interceptions.
