San Francisco's NaVorro Bowman finished third, fewer than a thousand votes behind the No. 2 position, in the Pro Bowl’s fan voting among inside linebackers, the NFL announced on Thursday.
In figures the NFL released, Bowman has collected 186,371 votes. Among inside linebackers, Luke Kuechly of Carolina (282,162) was the leading vote-getter at the position and Green Bay’s Clay Matthews (187,163) ranked second.
Bowman is the only 49ers player listed in the top-10 in fan balloting. He ranks second in the NFL with 124 tackles, behind only Indianapolis' D'Qwell Jackson, who has 129 tackles, according to the league's unofficial stats.
Fullback Bruce Miller, who ranked 10th last week, dropped out of the final Top 10 this week.
Fan votes account for one-third of the voting to determine the Pro Bowl teams. NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on Friday, Dec. 18.
Fan voting ended on Tuesday. The Pro Bowl players will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 22. Players will later be assigned to teams on Wednesday, Jan. 27.
The Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, Jan. 31, at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.
