The 49ers on Tuesday announced the hiring of Darrell Moody as a regional scout to fill a spot that opened when Scott Brown was added as to Jim Tomsula’s staff as defensive line coach.
Brown spent three years as the 49ers’ midwest scout. It has yet to be finalized in which region Moody will be stationed.
Moody spent the past five seasons with the Buffalo Bills as a national scout. He spent the previous eight seasons with the San Diego Chargers as a regional scout, covering the southeast.
Prior to entering the NFL with the Chargers’ scouting department in 2002, Moody spent 31 years of coaching at the collegiate and high school levels. Moody played quarterback at North Carolina State from 1968-70, where he earned a degree in economics and a master’s in vocational education.
