First-round draft pick Arik Armstead is the only 49ers draft pick who has yet to sign his mandatory four-year contract.
That should change later this week when Armstead reports for the 49ers’ rookie minicamp. The rest of the team’s rookies reported for the 49ers’ offseason program on Monday.
Because Oregon is on the quarters system, Armstead will get a late start with the 49ers. NFL rules prohibit any rookie who has yet to graduate from taking part in anything other than the rookie camp until final exams.
So while all of the 49ers’ rookies can begin to get acclimated to life in Santa Clara for a few days before the rookie camp begins, Armstead can take part only in the rookie camp. Finals week in Oregon is scheduled for early-June.
All rookies and first-year players are eligible to take part in the rookie camp. The 49ers are also expected to invite players for tryouts. Last year, the 49ers had 15 players in for tryouts. Two of those players, outside linebacker Chase Thomas and cornerback Cameron Fuller, eventually saw time on the 49ers’ 53-man roster.
Here’s the list of draft picks, undrafted rookies and first-year players who are eligible to participate in the minicamp, which is scheduled for the weekend:
