The Arizona Cardinals selected Anquan Boldin in the second round (54th overall) in the 2003 NFL Draft out of Florida State.

He took home Rookie of the Year honors (and was a Pro Bowler) after catching 101 passes for 1,377 yards and 8 touchdowns.

He reached the Pro Bowl again in 2006 and 2008 and registered 8 catches for 84 yards in Super Bowl XLIII against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After another solid season in Arizona in 2009, the Cardinals traded Boldin to the Ravens in March, 2010.

Over three seasons with Baltimore he amassed 186 catches, 2,645 yards and 14 touchdowns.

En route to a Super Bowl title last season Boldin registered 22 receptions for 380 yards and 4 touchdowns over four postseason games, including 6 catches for 104 yards and a score in Super Bowl XLVII against the 49ers.

How did the Ravens reward Boldin? They traded him to San Francisco a month later.

He responded with 85 catches (most since 89 in '08) for 1,179 yards (most since 1,203 in '06) and 7 touchdowns in the regular season, and he's coming off an 8-catch, 136-yard performance against the Carolina Panthers last Sunday.

At this juncture, does his career deserve Hall of Fame consideration?

"I've always been a big fan of Anquan Boldin," 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman said on Thursday. "I've always felt like Anquan was one of those guys, that for whatever reason, people just didn't give him his due.

"But when you really look at the production and what he does day in and day out, he's one of the best receivers in the NFL. And he's a guy that I think when it's all said and done, will be up for strong Hall of Fame consideration."

Former 49ers offensive lineman Bubba Paris told Jim Kozimor on Thursday's edition of Yahoo! SportsTalk Live that Boldin needs another year or two of significant production to be a serious candidate.

"Anquan needs to be in a system where he is the target of attention long enough for him to have that type of voting respect," Paris declared.
