PRINCE CHARLES IWORAH
Position: Defensive back
College: Western Kentucky
Height: 5 foot 9 7/8
Weight: 192 pounds
Selection: Seventh round, No. 249 overall
SANTA CLARA – The 49ers used their final pick of the draft to select their third cornerback over the past two days.
Prince Charles Iworah of Western Kentucky started the final 27 games of his college career. He was selected to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on Mike Holmgren’s team. His position coach was Hall of Fame cornerback Darrell Green.
The 49ers previously drafted cornerback Will Redmond (Mississippi State) in the third round and Rashard Robinson (LSU) in the fourth round.
Iworah has outstanding speed, clocking times of 4.32 and 4.36 seconds in the 40-yard dash at his pro day. He also had a 38 1/2-inch vertical and 10-foot-8 broad jump.
“Iworah is described as being raw with not a lot of football experience,” Gil Brandt of NFL.com wrote. “However, he's outstanding when it comes to pro-day numbers and looked good in the workouts. He could be a priority free-agent pickup.”
Iworah, Redmond and Robinson join a group of 49ers cornerbacks that includes Tramaine Brock, Kenneth Acker, Dontae Johnson, Keith Reaser, Marcus Cromartie and Chris Davis.
